Latest news on ShorePoint hospitals in Charlotte County.
We are watching very closely the latest developments with Hurricane Milton and its possible impact on our area. Our primary goal is the safety of our patients and staff, and the care we can offer.
The current situation is as follows:
At this point, we have evacuated 80% of our patients to sister-hospitals . These patients are being accompanied and supported by our own nursing and medical staff, who will be supporting the medical facilities receiving our patients, so that there is continuance of care. We hope to have ALL transfers completed by early this afternoon.
Our ER facility in Port Charlotte will close at 7pm TODAY and re-open as soon as conditions allow. Operations at the Port Charlotte campus will cease until the storm has passed and we can safely re-open the hospital.
Our Punta Gorda facility, which was badly affected by flooding in Hurricane Helene, is already closed with the Medical office Building locking down at noon today, so the entire facility can be secured and sandbagged.
All ShorePoint facilities will be closed until after the storm has passed and a full evaluation of our facilities has been completed.
Please keep on the look out for updates from us on this social media platform as things develop further.
